Shelburne Figure Skating Club celebrates season with closing extravagan­za

Shelburne and Barrington starskater­s combined to present the grand finale performanc­e at the Shelburne County Figure Skating Club’s end of season event. The Shelburne County Figure Skating Club celebrated the season with a closing skating extravagan­za at the Sandy Wickens Memorial Arena on March 3, where skaters of all levels took to the ice to ‘Just Dance.’

Several awards were presented during the skating showcase. Named Program Assistants of the Year were Grace Brannen and Kennedie Rennehan. Nevaeh Dolliver and Mya Hatter were presented with CanSkaters of the Year awards.

It was another successful season for the club, with participat­ion at all levels from PreCanSkat­ers to Starskater­s. Club members brought home 13 individual medals and two team medals from the Nova Scotia StarSkate Provincial Championsh­ip at the Pictou Wellness Centre on Feb. 24 and 25. The results were:

Star 1: Reese Banks - Bronze Star 2: Amber Nickerson – Bronze, Abigail Nickerson – Bronze, Brooke Banks – Bronze, Madyson Demings – Silver

Star 3: Brooke Amiro – Silver, Kaylee Atkinson – Silver, Sadie Oikle – Silver, Lia Oikle – Bronze

Star 4 O13: Brooke-Lyn Hopkins – (I’m not sure about this one – I will check and let you know)

Star 5 O13: Christina Harris – 5th, Kennedie Rennehan – 5th, Grace Brannen – 7th, Mia Huskilson – 8th

Star 2 Team of Madyson Demings, Abigail Nickerson, Amber Nickerson, Brooke Amiro – Bronze

Star 5 Team of Mia Huskilson, Kennedie Rennehan, Christina Harris, Grace Brannen – 3rd
