Thieves recently stole frozen food from a residence in Danvers, while a cabin in the same area of Digby County was set on fire.

Digby RCMP say they are investigating the two crimes in the community of Danvers, located east of Highway 101, about halfway between Meteghan and Digby.

Both incidents were reported to police on March 2 but police say they have no reason to believe the incidents were connected.

The fire completely destroyed the cabin located off the Danvers Road.

By the time police arrived at the scene, the blaze had been completely extinguished, and police say it was clear the fire had occurred sometime before it had been reported.

Accelerants were located on sight, Const. Colin Helm said in a press release.

The provincial Fire Marshal’s office has been called and the investigation is ongoing.

The second incident was a break and enter into a home on the Danvers Road.

The suspect took frozen food items from the residence.

That investigation, Helm said, is also ongoing.

Anyone with information about either crime is asked to contact the Digby RCMP at 902245-2579, or 1-800-803-RCMP (7267).

To remain anonymous, call Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
