Shelburne seeking art proposals
The Town of Shelburne is seeking proposals from the artistic community for an ‘Art in the Parks’ project as part of their efforts to promote public art in the community.
“Investing in public art helps in creating vibrant public spaces for residents and visitors,” states the call for proposals. “We are looking for art that: communicates our culture, community, or heritage; compliments a park setting; is unique and creative; and has a total project cost up to $5,000 maximum.”
This project is open to both professional artists and other creative individuals or groups. All eligible projects will be located on town property and will be wholly owned and maintained by the town once complete.
Submissions to the town must include the artist(s) names and contact information; a description of the Art project and why it would be appropriate for Shelburne; a timeline for the work to be completed; materials list and budget (eligible expenses include: materials, wages, installation) and drawings, previ- ous work, or visual imagery to help communicate your idea.
Submissions will be reviewed by the Community Participation and Volunteerism Committee. The deadline to submit a proposal is 4 p.m. on April 30. Submissions can be sent to Julie Ferguson, Town Clerk/Special Projects Coordinator, Town of Shelburne, 168 Water Street, PO Box 670, Shelburne NS, B0T 1W0 clerk@town.shelburne. ns.ca Phone: 902-875-2991 ext. 8 Fax: 902-875-3932.
