Roxeen & Dalrymple to perform in Saulnierville March 31

Duo will perform at Clare Veterans Centre at 7 p.m.

On Saturday, March 31, Roxeen & Dalrymple will perform their traditional and distinctive homegrown music at the Clare Veterans Centre in Saulnierville.

The Nova Scotian duo may be one of the province’s newest acoustic acts, but they are far from being new on the music scene.

Originally teamed together 25 years ago as band mates of the Spinney Brothers, a life of separate musical paths has brought them back together. Roxeen & Dalrymple is a classic guitar and mandolin duet, described as a tour de force of vocals, rhythm and traditional melodies.

Roxeen Roberts and Gary Dalrymple are respected veteran musicians with impressive musical resumes.

They are multiple East Coast Music Awards (ECMAs) nominees, Maritime Gospel Music Awards (MGMA) nominees and have won numerous Eastern Canadian Bluegrass Music Awards (ECBMAs).

They have toured coast- tocoast in Canada and the United States and now, after careers of extensive travel and performing and recording, the duo couldn’t be more excited as to where they have landed musically.

“We honestly love and cherish the classic sounds of traditional bluegrass, country and gospel music,” said Roberts.

They honour the music of the past yet embrace the present through their own originality.

Dalrymple added they both grew up on the sounds of Bill Monroe, Flatt and Scruggs, Porter Wagoner and Dolly Parton.

“You know, the good stuff,” he said.

“It’s this style of music that we Roxeen & Dalrymple will perform their traditional homegrown music at the Clare Veterans Centre in Saulnierville March 31. are so excited to be performing. Our show includes many of the standards. However, expect to hear some of our own material, songs of course that are heavily influenced by the music we were raised on.”

The duo is thrilled to be coming to Saulnierville for the first time.

The event is one of numerous spring performances within the Maritimes.

The duo has had a busy last several months, touring Alberta, Ontario, Newfoundland, and just recently coming back from their first West Coast tour of Washington State and British Columbia.
