‘Fabulous time’ at Yarmouth airport as new event takes off

As of three days or so after the event, organizers had yet to determine how much money was raised, but MacDonald said they were confident they would reach their target of $ 10,000.

The proceeds would benefit the women’s centre (based at 12 Cumberland St. in Yarmouth) and the adjacent Leahey Wellness Clinic.

Among those on hand for the evening at the airport was Lisanne Turner, the women’s centre’s new executive director.

“It was full in there and it looked like people were having a good time,” she said.

Much work and planning went into the event, which was organized by the Friends of the Women’s Centre.

Like MacDonald and others, Turner said she was struck by how the initiative was received.

“There was just tremendous community support and business support,” Turner said.
