DONALDSON, Peter Elbern – 50, passed away unexpected­ly April 8th, 2018 at his residence in Clark’s Harbour. Born in Yarmouth on July 12th, 1967, he was the son of Elbern and Sylvia (Sullivan) Donaldson. Peter spent much of his life involved in the fishing community and was very passionate about the lobster industry. Having studied electrical at the vocational school, he worked on submarines at the dockyards in Halifax for several years before subsequent­ly returning home to work alongside his parents at the family fish business. He was adventurou­s, undertakin­g pursuits such as sky-diving, white-water rafting and scuba-diving. Well-loved by many, Peter’s friends, co-workers and, certainly, his family, thought highly of him. With a twinkle in his eye, a joke or clever remark never far from his lips, he was quick-witted and genuinely funny. In addition to his par- ents, he is survived by his beloved daughter, Gabrielle, Halifax; former spouse and mother of his daughter, Shirley Richard; sisters, Pamela (Timothy) Bourque, Amirault’s Hill and Karen (Daniel) Mullen, Waterville; nieces and nephews, Kaitlyn, Nicholas, Brandon, Cameron and Ruthie. He was predecease­d by paternal grandparen­ts, Wallace and Maude Donaldson as well as maternal grandparen­ts, Howard and Muriel Sullivan. Funeral arrangemen­ts were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematoriu­m, Yarmouth. Visitation took place Friday, April 13, 2018 from 2 - 3 p.m. at Evangel Assembly, where the funeral service followed at 3 p.m., officiated by his uncle Bud Hurlburt, assisted by Pastor Nathan Hill. Interment in Chegoggin Cemetery at a later date. Family flowers only. Memorial donations in memory of Peter may be made to a trust fund set up for Peter’s daughter Gabrielle at the Bank of Nova Scotia.
