A benefit for a little Heart Warrior who has inspired and captured the hearts of countless people is being held this weekend.

A benefit for Baby Millie Robertson is taking place on Sunday, April 29, from 11 a. m. to 4 p. m. at the Knights of Columbus at 10 Collins Street in Yarmouth.

This newspaper has written many stories about Millie’s medical journey from the time she had her first heart operation while still inside her mother Caroline’s womb to how she defeated all medical odds and challenges and celebrated her first birthday this past December.

Millie Grace Robertson, born on Dec. 23, 2016, is the daughter of Caroline and Derek Robertson. Caroline is the town planner for the Town of Yarmouth and Derek works at Tri-Star.

Millie has two congenital heart defects – Hypoplastic Left Syndrome (HLHS) and Pulmonary Vein Stenosis and has undergone several open- heart surgeries at the Toronto Sick Kids hospital in her 16 months of life.

Earlier this month the family travelled to Toronto for Millie’s latest open-heart surgery. Due to many complications arising from that surgery, Millie and her parents have needed to stay in Toronto much longer than had been anticipated.

With so many trips back and forth to Toronto for Millie’s specialized medical care at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, the financial burden on the family has been great.

Therefore, friends are organizing this benefit to help the family.

There is a ‘ Benefit for Baby Millie Robertson’ Facebook event that has been created with more information about the benefit, including how people can donate items to support the cause.

The benefit will include a silent and Chinese auction, a bake sale, rappie pie sales, etc.
