South West Fusion sends many teams to provincials
Silver medal for U18 girls, bronze medal for U15 girls
More South West Fusion teams competed at the second week of Volleyball Nova Scotia provincials this past weekend.
The South West Fusion U15 Tier 1 Blue girls team took bronze at provincials, defeating the Tigers in two sets by scores of 25-16 and 25-14.
Alexa Jeffery was named an all-star. The team is coached by Shawn Muise and Scott Jeffery.
The South West Fusion U15 Cammy Tier 2 team lost the bronze in three sets to the Cougars by scores of 25-14, 23-25 and 7-15, to take 4th place in Tier 1 White. The team is coached by Cammy d’Eon and Renee Cunningham. Finishing fourth was still quite an accomplishment seeing how the team had been ranked 12th out of 26 teams going into provincials and moved from Tier 2 to Tier 1.
The South West Fusion U14 boys fell short in two sets during the bronze medal match by scores of 23-25 and 15-25 to the Axe, but coming in 4th out of seven teams with most of the players not having played Fusion before was still considered a very good showing. The team is coached by Adrian Deveau and Pierre Doucet. Vincent Surette was named all-star.
The U18 girls played for gold but lost by scores of 18-25 and 20-25. The team is coached by Melanie Surette and Hailey Berry. All stars were Baylee Surette and Renee Cleveland. The U18 girls had gone into provincials ranked 8th and finished second out of 22 teams.
The U18 boys took 4th losing two close sets to DVC by scores of 25-27 and 23-25. Alec Cottreau named all-star.
