Activities at the Western Counties Regional Library
Adopt-A-Book Campaign 2018 Through June 30
The Western Counties Regional Library’s Adopt- Abook campaign is the singlemost important fundraising campaign for your public library. The campaign puts new books on the library shelves and runs until Saturday, June 30. People can donate online (westerncounties.ca) or during a visit to their local branch library.
• Tuesdays, 6 to 8 p.m. Adults can do their own Scrapbooking project with a group of people who want to share ideas and projects.
• Adult Colouring Club: Wednesdays, 10 a. m. to 12 p. m. Adults can share their love of colouring or try it for the first time during this weekly drop-in group program.

An Introduction to Beekeeping: Thursday, May 3, 6:30 p.m. Nicholas Amero will provide some information on beekeeping. He will have free seeds available of flowers that attract bees. You can also bring seeds to swap with others.

Thursdays, May 10, 17, 24 and 31, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Parliamentary poet laureate Georgette LeBlanc will lead a 4- week writing workshop to help participants put thoughts into words. Write down those family stories that should not be forgotten.

TD Canadian Children’s Book
Week Tour: Author and Illustrator Kass Reich: Thursday, May 10, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Toronto- based illustrator and author Kass Reich will be at the library to discuss illustrating and writing children’s books. Kass Reich was born in Montreal. She works as an artist and educator and has spent a majority of the last decade traveling and living abroad.
She graduated with a degree in Art Education from Concordia University. TD Canadian Children’s Book Week is the single most important national event celebrating Canadian children’s books and the importance of reading. Each May, over 400 readings are given to over 28,000 children, teens and adults in roughly 175 communities across the country as part of this major literary festival.

A Painting for Mum: Story Time for Tots:
Fri- May 3 and 17, 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p. m. Bring your stitching and hook or needle and enjoy a beverage with other fibre enthusiasts. The Fibre Group is open to anyone interested in fibre art and meets the first and third Thursdays of the month.

Mental Health and WellBeing with Dominic Deveau:
Mindfulness and Staying Present in the Moment: Saturday, May 5, 2 to 3 p.m. Dominic Deveau is a trained therapist with a master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University who has done extensive work with trauma, addictions, OCD and other disorders.
He will be offering a series of information sessions on mental health and well- being. This session provides an overview of being present in your work, your relationships and your life on a daily basis. These sessions are for adults. Register by May 3 by contacting the library. 8 and 22 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Drop in any time during the hour-anda-half program.
