Back by popular demand, the man who becomes Elvis on stage is returning to the Sandy Wickens Memorial Arena in Barrington Passage on Saturday, May 26, with a brand new show.

Elvis Rock and Gospel, performed by Thane Dunn, will feature many of the rock songs Elvis made popular from Trying to Get To You and Suspicious Minds. But because he says no one could sing a country song like Elvis, Dunn is adding several of Elvis’s country songs into the show, such as Always on My Mind, Kentucky Rain and many more.

There is a very special opening act. Melly Dunn – Thane Dunn’s wife who also has family ties to Shelburne County – will debut as the Rhinestone Cowgirl with her salute to the Queens of Country Music: Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette and Patsy Cline.

Melly Dunn has an amazing vocal range and the looks of a movie star with incredible replica costumes of a time long gone bye. Thane Dunn says he was completely smitten the first Thane Dunn will bring his Elvis Rock and Gospel show to the Sandy Wickens Memorial Arena in Barrington Passage on Saturday, May 26. time he heard Melly sing and says audiences will be thoroughly impressed by her talent.

The show starts at 7:30 p.m. Doors will open at 6 p.m. Regular tickets are $30 in advance or $40 at the door.

Thane Dunn has been called the full Elvis package – delivering not only the look, voice, moves and mannerisms, but he also has that magnetic personality and Presleyoff-the-wall boyish charm that makes you a believer.

Prior to his show last year he told this newspaper that a young boy his father owned a Pontiac Parisienne Brougham with an eight-track player. Stuck inside the eight-track player was an Elvis tape.

“I would stand in the back of the car and shake my legs to the music,” said Dunn.

He hasn’t stopped shaking his leg since and pays huge attention to detail in his shows to make sure his audiences fell like they are watching the king himself.

His show is endorsed by several people who worked and performed with Presley in the 70’s. As well, Dunn will be wearing an exact replica of Elvis’s favourite stage suit called the Embroidered Peacock. No expense, says Dunn, has been sparred to deliver Las Vegas quality entertainment directly to southwestern Nova Scotia.

“Our last show in Barrington was amazing,” says Dunn. “People show up not sure what to expect. Most people think it’s going to be corny or nothing like seeing the real Elvis, but everyone went home pleasantly surprised.

“One lady had actually seen Elvis in 1972 and said it was like seeing him again which is great to hear,” he said. “I love Elvis and making people happy. If you liked the last show you’re going to love this one.”
