Eighteen-year old Fall River native Shaun Margeson is the 2018 MCT Men’s Amateur champion.

He carded a five-under-par 67 in the final round of the four-day tournament that was hosted by the Nova Scotia Golf Association (NSGA) at the River Hills Golf and Country Club in Clyde River from July 5 to 8.

It was the best round posted during the championship tournament and more than enough to clinch top spot from River Hills’ contenders Aaron Nickerson and Jody Swim. Margeson finished the tournament with a +3 four-day total of 291.

“I hit 16 greens today and that gave me lots of looks at birdies. It was actually a stress-free round, as I was hitting the ball really straight all week.
