Great summer at the Links

-

It has been a great summer for golf at the Yarmouth Links. Most days the fog is hanging over the harbour and rolls in late in the day and hangs around until mid-morning. And even though we haven’t had much rain, that fog sure helps.

And if you don’t play in the fog l guess you aren’t playing in Yarmouth.

Our superintendent does a great job with his crew keeping the course and the greens in fine shape. Our new manager is starting to settle in and seems to be doing a great job.

This year we have 45 new members and there seems to be more traffic on the course as some days it is back-to-back tee times.

We have a great junior program every Monday morning with a lot of kids showing up. We would love to see a few more of the 16-to-18-year-olds playing.

There are a lot of sports in Y-town to play in the summer and most want to play team sports. But in golf you’ve got to keep hitting that little ball and then hit it again but after time you will make a great shot or a long putt and say, ‘l can’t wait till l come back tomorrow’ and then you are hooked. So no matter what the age, please come down and play.

Saturday, Aug. 4, was a great day at the Links as Hervic held their annual golf tournament with golfers and some once-a-year golfers. Everyone had a great time and a great meal. Thanks for putting this on. Garth Nickerson, Yarmouth
