Terry Doucette wants to say thank you, even though he isn’t sure who he’s thanking.

Doucette is just grateful that someone found and turned in his wallet after he had lost it recently near the Rodd Grand Hotel.

“There’s

Recalling how it happened, Doucette – who lives in Chebogue, Yarmouth County – said he had some friends visiting from the U.S. and he was driving them to the Grand Hotel one night.

He had put his wallet in the pocket door of his vehicle. While

“I got back home later, like 15 minutes after we had dropped them (the friends) off, and when I went looking for my wallet, it wasn’t in the door,” Doucette said, “so I knew it had fallen out somewhere around the Grand.”

Doucette headed back to town. He went to the two spots near the Grand Hotel where he remembered opening his door, Shelburne:

“My wife’s cousin that was with me said ‘ you should maybe check to the front desk,’” Doucette said, and so he went inside the hotel.

Admittedly wondering what the chances were of his wallet having been found and turned in, Doucette was happy to get some good news.

“Someone had picked it up and returned it to the front desk,” he said. “This doesn’t happen too often. And I still had money in my wallet and everything was still there.”

It was a busy night at the hotel, Doucette said, and he never found out who had recovered his wallet, but he wanted to express his gratitude.

“Just a thank you to an honest person, whoever it was,” he said. “It was good to see that stuff like that still happens once in a while.”
