The RCMP are investigating a break and enter at the Shag Harbour UFO Centre that occurred overnight on Friday, Sept. 7 and left the place vandalized.

Shag Harbour UFO Incident Society president and volunteer Laurie Wickens found the centre broken into when he arrived on Saturday morning to open for the day.

“I left Friday at five and when I came back Saturday morning the window in the door was smashed. I went inside. There were two cash registers upside down on the floor and mugs and stuff thrown around. I turned around and went back out and called the police,” he said.

The RCMP responded to the scene on Saturday, securing the building until Monday, when an investigator from the Yarmouth RCMP came to process the scene.

The extent of the damage, or whether anything was stolen was still being assessed Monday.

Three windows on the eastern side of the building were also smashed.

The Shag Harbour UFO Incident Society is a non-profit organization.
