MADD Yarmouth County needs help

-

MADD Yarmouth County has been a part of the community since 2004. A small and dedicated volunteer base has persevered forward and been a known presence in the Yarmouth and surrounding areas for 14 years.

Volunteers have come and gone over these 14 years but a core group has always been present, ready to move forward on new projects with the mission of stopping impaired driving and supporting victims.

On Nov. 7 at the yearly AGM, MADD Yarmouth found itself in a tough spot. The core group of volunteers has faded to four. The AGM brought to light two of the four members are taking a step back for personal reasons. In the words of Agatha Christie – and then there were two.

The remaining two official board members have a tough decision to make. Persevere and hope community members step up or move the well-established MADD chapter backwards and reduce it to a community leader status or close altogether.

This is the plea of MADD Yarmouth County. We need new membership. We need volunteers willing to work alongside us and help us continue our work. With a maximum commitment of two hours a month, we feel this is not too much to ask.

If you’re interested in joining us or learning more, please reach out. We will be hosting an information session as part of our January meeting on Jan. 9, 2019 at 6 p.m. at SIP Café. We hope you, the Yarmouth community, will join us.

Candice Phibbs,

Interim Vice President MADD Yarmouth County
