DOUCETSURE­TTE, Cheryl Lynn – age

47, Ste. Annedu-Ruisseau, Yarmouth Co., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Born September 9, 1971 in Yarmouth, she was the daughter of Leonard and the late Yvonne (Cornu) Doucet. Cheryl was the head cook at École secondaire de Par-en-Bas, where she worked for many years. She was involved in Relay for Life and served as the lead cook for Les Grands Jeux (de l’Acadie) in 2012 as well as for many of the Jeux-de-l’Acadie regionals. She had a passion for gardening and had a gift for writing, having written a book, Parallel. Cheryl loved shopping and wearing nice clothing. She will be remembered as a passionate, giving, caring and strong-willed woman who always put her heart into everything she did. She was a woman of strong faith and was a member of Saint Anne’s Parish, where she taught religious education and served on parish council, both for many years. Aside from her father Leonard, Cheryl is survived by her husband Raymond, as well as by daughters, Kristen Trefry, Yarmouth and Laura Trefry (Dustin Doucette), Argyle; a step-son, Zach Surette, Halifax; three loving grandchild­ren, Evelynn Trefry-Amirault, Autumn and Rowan Doucette. Also surviving are brothers, Glenn (Lisa) Doucet, Brazil Lake; Curtis (Sharon) Doucet, John (Sandra) Doucet and Ronnie Doucet, all of Wedgeport; sisters, Kim (Maurice) Muise, Surette’s Island and Emily Doucet, Hubbard’s Point. Besides her mother Yvonne, she was predecease­d by a brother Drake Doucet. The family received friends at H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert St., Yarmouth, from 6-8 p.m., Friday with prayers at 7 p.m. A funeral Mass took place at Ste. Anne’s Catholic Church, Ste. Anne-du-Ruisseau on Saturday, November 17 at 11 a.m., Father Albeni d’Entremont officiated. Interment followed in the parish cemetery.
