NKEC 10 – DIGBY 4

The Digby Mariners travelled to Canning on Nov. 1 to play the NKEC Titans. The first period ended 4-1 for the Titans. Digby put three goals past the Titans in the second period, which ended 8-4 for NKEC. The final game score was Titans 10, Mariners 4. Digby's goals were scored by Max Longmire with a hat trick to Lathan Robinson. Special mention went out by the host team to Digby’s netminder Spencer Hazel, who made some incredible saves and kept the game in reach for much of the three periods.

HORTON 4 – YARMOUTH 2

On Nov. 2, the Yarmouth Vikings travelled to Kentville to play Horton. Yarmouth got a number of big saves from Charlie Banks who kept the goal differenti­al to 1-0 for Horton at the end of the first period. In the second period, Yarmouth was able to tie the game with a one-timer from the slot by Max Nickerson who was set up by JJ MacPhee and Zach Richardson. Horton rebounded quickly with a goal but less than a minute later Yarmouth tied it 2-2 as Orren Hatfield finished off a 2-on-1 rush with a set up by Zach Richardson. Horton went ahead 3-2, with Yarmouth hitting the iron as the seconds ticked away on in the second period. Horton added another goal in the third for the 4-2 final.

NKEC 5 – YARMOUTH 1

The Yarmouth Vikings hosted the NKEC Titans for Yarmouth’s on Nov. 3. The first period ended 1-0 for NKEC. Yarmouth tied the game 1-1 early in the second with Tyler MacLeod (Zach Richardson, Max Nickerson) scoring. The Titans added two more goals to end the frame 3-1 and took advantage of penalty trouble the Vikings found themselves in the third period by scoring two power-play goals for a 5-1 final. In net for the Titans, Kam Kinsman stopped 19 of 20 shots. In net for Yarmouth, Tyson Peters put in a solid 60 minutes of goaltendin­g with 32 saves on 37 shots.

HORTON 10 – DIGBY 3

The Digby Mariners hosted the Horton Griffins on Nov. 3 in Digby. Horton led 4-0 after the first. In the second period Digby got on the board with a power-play goal by Ryan Gunn followed by a second powerplay goal by Max Longmire. Horton led 9-2 after two frames. In the third, Lathan Robinson got the Mariners one more goal in a game that ended 10-4 in Horton’s favour. By far the player of the game was Digby’s goaltender Spencer Hazel, who saw 73 shots.

WK TOURNAMENT

There were fewer VHSHL league games happening over the weekend due to teams competing at a tournament being hosted by West Kings. Local teams at that tournament included Barrington, Clare and Par-en-Bas. Full tournament results were not available at our press deadline.

Par-en-Bas advanced to the championsh­ip game but was edged out by Avon View 4-3 in overtime.

THIS WEEKEND’S GAMES

The Clare Loups will host West Kings Friday, Nov. 8 at 7:30 p.m.

The Digby Mariners will host the PEB Sharks Saturday, Nov. 9, at 6 p.m.

The Yarmouth Vikings are travelling to Middleton on Saturday, Nov. 9

The Clare Loups host the Barrington Barons on Saturday, Nov. 9, at 7:30 p.m.

The Digby Mariners host the Barrington Barons Sunday, Nov. 10, at 1 p.m.

The PEB Sharks host Central Kings Sunday, Nov. 10, at 4 p.m.

In girls action the Barrington Barons travel to Kingston to play West Kings on Nov. 8. The Yarmouth Vikings host West Kings Saturday, Nov. 9, at 7:30 p.m.
