Christmas celebratio­ns kicking off in Shelburne

Christmas celebratio­ns will be kicking off in Shelburne on Nov. 23 with a Christmas craft show at the Community Centre from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the annual Christmas Parade that evening.

Registrati­on is now required for the Christmas Parade. Forms are available at the Town Office at 168 Water Street, or by emailing eventscoor­dinator@town. shelburne.ns.ca or calling 902-8752991 extension 7. Parade entries will begin to line up on Minto Street at 5:30 p.m. with the parade slated to start at 6:30 p.m. The parade theme this year is Vintage Christmas with a nod to the 1950s, 60s, 70s and 80s.

Santa’s first visit to town comes on Nov. 24 at the Community Centre on King Street. Children are invited have Breakfast with Santa from 9 to 11 a.m. Santa will be back in Town on Dec. 13 to visit with children at the Guild Hall.

The Town of Shelburne and the Municipali­ty of Shelburne will also be launching the second annual Celebrate Local Campaign on Nov. 22.

The campaign runs until Dec. 19. Ballot boxes will be placed throughout the community at locations where events are being held during the festive season, said Val Kean, community developmen­t coordinato­r for the Municipali­ty, including the Shelburne County Arena, the McKay Memorial Library,

community breakfasts and other events.

Attendees are invited to fill out a ballot. A draw will be conducted at the Municipali­ty of Shelburne’s open house on Dec. 23 for a chance to win one of three prizes of gift cards valued at $300, $150 and $50.

“It was very successful last year,” said Kean with more than 1,000 entries received.
