FITZGERALD Paul Louis age 58, of Yarmouth

We announce his passing on Friday, January 3, 2020. Paul passed peacefully at home. Born in Yarmouth on April 22, 1961 he was the middle child of the late Clarence and Marion Fitzgerald. Paul grew up in Yarmouth and as a young man was involved in hockey, the Milo Boat Club, Kingsman Club, and volunteere­d with the HOPE Center. He was an avid sports fan and loved the Toronto Maple Leaf’s and Blue Jays. He worked at Pleasant Supplies where he made several lifelong friends. He then worked for the Tin Mine before venturing off to Alberta where he worked as a pipe insulator for a number of years until a major accident caused him to return home to Nova Scotia. Paul is survived by his loving sisters, Sandra A. Cobbett (the late Robert J. Cobbett) and

Susan M. MacLellan; and nieces, Chelsea L. Fitzgerald and Jalissa A. MacLellan who were the loves of his life. Paul took over ownership of Harley (Chelsea’s dog) when Chelsea moved away, and Paul wouldn’t go far from the house without bringing Harley along for a ride. Funeral arrangemen­ts have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematoriu­m, Yarmouth. Visitation was held Friday, January 10, 2020 from 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. with prayers at 7:30 p.m. A funeral service took place Saturday January 11, 2020 at 2 p.m. from Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel with Father Henry Smolenaars officiatin­g. Interment will follow in the Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to the Yarmouth Food Bank or Friends of Gilles Boudreau Cancer Help Fund.
