CHURCHILL, George Ralph
It is with deep sadness that the family of George Ralph Churchill announces his passing at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital on January 14, 2020, at age 72. George was born on October 22, 1947 in Halifax, Nova Scotia to parents George Ralph Churchill Sr. and Audrey Ernestine Burrill. He was raised in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia and remained there until completing his high school education. In 1971, he and his wife Lorena moved to Dartmouth and later to Digby, Nova Scotia. At retirement they moved back to their family origins in Yarmouth. George worked in management positions in the financial services and insurance industries for his entire career. He was a past chairperson and director of The Conway Workshop Association, past chairperson and director of the Digby – Clare Business Development Centre and past member and president of The Kinsmen Club of Digby. George was a passionate genealogist and enjoyed researching the family history. He also , over the years, assisted many individuals in finding their family tree and lost relatives. He was a certified genealogist and author of two published research books; The Nova Scotia Churchills and The Churchills – Origins in Antiquity. He is survived and will be dearly missed by his loving wife, of fifty-one years, and best friend, Lorena (Hattie); two sons, Craig, (Heather MacDonald) and Brandon, (Erin Noseworthy); four grandchildren, Samuel, Alexander, Jack, Malcolm; and four brothers, Roger, (Paula Cooper) of Bedford, NS, Randy, (Barbara Annable ) of Nanaimo, BC, Harvey, (Sue McCabe) of Washington, DC; and Blair of Straffordshire, England. He will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Internment will follow at Darling’s Lake Cemetery, Yarmouth Co., NS. Special thanks to the Tri-County VON, the Staff on 4 East, Dr. Lisa Gillis and the palliative care team, Dr. Eissa and family doctor, Dr. John Black, who supported us through this difficult journey.
