It is with great sadness that the family announce Rebecca of Melbourne, Yarmouth Co., passed away peacefully on January 24, 2020 at the age of 68 with her loving family and her cat, MeMe, at her side. Born on June 6, 1951 she was a daughter of the late George and Barbara (Bambridge) Fitzgerald. She was a devoted wife and best friend to her loving husband, Donald, of 48 years; mother of twins Darrell (Bonnie) and Deborah (Scotty) Boudreau; three beautiful grandchild­ren, Madison, Kaleb, and Emilee, who will miss their Nanny so much. Nanny was so proud of her grandchild­ren. Rebecca worked for over 20 years at K-Mart and then another 10 years at Walmart before retiring. She was known to have a great sense of humor and a love of her gardens and all flowers. In her spare time, she loved to knit, watch Coronation Street and may have had a small addiction to watching the shopping channel. She is also survived by her siblings, Diana (Gary) Nickerson, Theresa (Lloyd) DeViller, David (Beatrice), James (Marie), Yvonne Christian, Leah (John) Shubert, Norma (Kevin) Crosby, Norman, Linda (Pat) Patten, Zena (Harold) White, Rhoda (Scott) Nickerson, Ivan, Rachel (John) Payne. Besides her parents she was predecease­d by her brothers and sister, David and Doreen who were twins, Mark, and nephew, Wally. Funeral arrangemen­ts have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematoriu­m, Yarmouth. Visitation will be held Monday, January 27, 2020 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with prayers at 7 p.m. all in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at 11 a.m. from Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Melbourne with Father Henry Smolenaars officiatin­g. Interment will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Flowers are welcomed. Donations in memory may be made to The Friends of Gilles Boudreau Cancer Help Fund.
