YCMHS girls win basketball tournament

Vikings defeat Hants North in final; next home game for YCMHS Feb. 13 against Barrington

Yarmouth Consolidat­ed Memorial High School’s varsity girls basketball team captured another tournament title this past weekend – its fourth of the season – as the Vikings won the Lockeport Green Wave tournament in Lockeport.

The YCMHS girls defeated Shelburne and New Germany before facing Hants North in the final, where the Vikings were triumphant again.

They improved their season record to 19-7. The Vikings’ next home game is scheduled for Feb. 13 against Barrington. This will be a 6 p.m. start as the Yarmouth team celebrates seniors night.

The following is a summary of the Yarmouth team’s games from this past weekend’s Lockeport tourney:

GAME 1

Yarmouth 63 – Shelburne 36

Ellie Hiltz had 15 points and Janaya Hiltz had 11 to lead YCMHS scorers. Yarmouth’s hustle award went to Rayanne Oakley and player of the game was Janaya Hiltz.

GAME 2

Yarmouth 41 – New Germany 24

Emma Corporon (13 points) and Ellie Hiltz (12) were the top Viking scorers in this one, with Ali Surette getting the hustle award and Ellie Hiltz being named YCMHS player of the game.

FINAL

Yarmouth 51 – Hants North 42 Ellie Hiltz had a big game for

Yarmouth in the final, scoring 16 points and getting 16 rebounds, eight steals and five assists.

Janaya Hiltz had 11 points for the winners.

Jenna Ebbett got the Yarmouth hustle award and

Savannah Watkins was the Vikings’ player of the game.

Emma Corporon was a tournament all-star.
