Always appreciate the walk down memory lane

- Tina Comeau

I have to say, one of my favourite parts of Facebook is the ‘day in memories’ feature. It’s always fun to look back on things that happened and to be reminded about things you had forgotten. Here’s a few of my favourites Facebook status family reminders.

FEBRUARY 2013:

My son Justin's class is going to be knitting. He described how it's going to play itself out to me and my parents tonight.

Says Justin: "We’ll roll the yarn up in a ball. We'll take the knitting needles and go up and through and through and around and through and up and we'll have a scarf."

Okay, I know I'm not the most domestic person but I'm pretty sure he's missing some steps here.

JANUARY 2011:

Me and the boys are watching the NY Rangers/Toronto Maple Leafs game on TV and I explained to Justin that it's an hour behind in New York. His response, "Why? Was Canada made one hour before the U.S.A.?"

NOVEMBER 2013:

A commercial comes on TV about a musical about The Sound of Music.

Justin says, "I didn't like that movie. I hated the ending. They were in the middle of nowhere and it was like, Boom! Done!" Then he laments about how there wasn't a sequel, "apparently" so we could find out what happened to the Von Trapp family.

"At least after Spider-Man there was a Spider-Man 2," he says. "And a Spider-Man 3."

JULY 2010:

It’s hard to keep a straight face when my son Justin is shaking a plastic 8-ball in my face and says, “Okay, let’s ask the Magic Meatball the question.”

APRIL 2013:

Flipping through the TV Guide tonight. The conversation goes like this.

Justin: "The Pink Panther!" Me: "Yeah, but it's not what you think."

Justin: "So it's not about a guy who is a detective?"

Me: "Okay, so it is what you think."

Justin (who now is humming the Pink Panther theme song): "There was also a cartoon called the Pink Panther."

Me: "How do you know this?"

Justin: "I used to be a kid."

SEPTEMBER 2015: Conversation with Jacob on the way to dropping him off at his high school dance.

Me: “Do you need money?” Him: “Well, it costs $7 to get in.”

Me: “How much money do you have?”

Him: “35 cents”

MAY 2010:

Justin asked me the other day when we were buying a certain something. I told him I had to get the money first but said, “Don’t worry, mom has a plan…” He says to me, “Is your plan to rob a bank?”

DECEMBER 2019:

So Jacob invites me to lunch today. As he’s paying for our lunch I say to him, “Well, thanks for lunch. I’ll see you later," and I start to leave, to which he replies, “You drove me here.”

Me: “Oh, right.”

JUNE 2016:

So my mom is telling a story about something that had happened to her a few years ago. She ends it by saying, “I was fibreglassed.” As I’m laughing my head off she says, “What’s the word?”

Well, the word if flabbergasted but I like her ending better. Much more entertaining.

SEPTEMBER 2013:

Funny line from Justin today.

“The people in my music class are so annoying, All they do is sing.”

Me: “Ummm….well, it is music class.”

SEPTEMBER 2010:

After Justin asked me his

6th question about where fruit flies come from I said, “Stop asking me questions.” To which Jacob says, “That’s what you do all the time. How was school today? Did you have lunch? Who did you hang out with? How were soccer tryouts? What did you talk about with your friends?”

Okay, I had to admit, coming from him it sounded funny.

JUNE 2014:

Earlier this evening, I was driving Jacob into town and dropping off one of Justin’s friends at his nan’s house. To our left the clouds are this amazing peach/pink. To our right is a spectacular sunset. I say, “The clouds are so pretty, I don’t know where I should look.”

Says Jacob, “Uhhh…at the road.”

Guess that drivers ed has really paid off.
