Mary Elizabeth Trask, 91 of Yarmouth passed away March 2, 2020 at The Meadows. Born April 7, 1928 in Portland Maine, she was the only daughter of the late Thomas Andrew and Eva Bertha (McKim) Drover. Mary moved to Amherst, Nova Scotia September 1929 then to Kline Heights in Dartmouth October 22, 1930 to live in the house that her father built. She graduated from Saint Patrick’s High School in 1947 she then moved to Yarmouth to train as a nurse at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1952. She furthered her nursing career by getting her Postgradua­te in Operating Room in 1953 in New Jersey. She returned to the Yarmouth Regional Hospital working as a general duty nurse, Outpatient­s Department Supervisor, Operating Room Supervisor and finally as Supervisor in the Central Supply Room from which she retired. She had worked in the Yarmouth Regional Hospital for 34 years. Mary was an avid reader; she read anything from biographie­s to religion. Her favorite books were murder mysteries. The family joke was we had all better sleep with one eye open. She was huge fan of the Royal Family, especially the Queen Mother. She is survived by her daughters, Ruth, Terrace BC, Anne (Shawn) Doucette, Wedgeport NS; son, Paul, Yarmouth NS; grandsons, Jon and Mark Doucette, Wedgeport NS; brother, Josiah, Halifax NS; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predecease­d by her husband, Charles and her brothers, Thomas and John “Jack”. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or funeral by request. Memorial donations in Mary’s memory maybe made to the Yarmouth Hospital Foundation or charity of choice. The family would like to thank the staff at the Meadows, especially those in Jay House for their excellent care and compassion.
