POTHIER, Geraldine “Gerry” Marie 87 of Villa SaintJosep­h du Lac, Dayton, formerly of Pinkney’s Point, Yarmouth Co. passed away surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Villa Saint-Joseph du Lac. Born July 31, 1932 in Pinkney’s Point, Geraldine was the daughter of the late Enos and Adèle (Saulnier) Saulnier. She was predecease­d by her one true love and husband of 66 years, Gilbert Pothier. She is survived by her children, Simon (Connie) Quispamsis, NB; Susan (Ruben) Doucette, Pinkney’s Point; Gail (Glendon) Surette, Melbourne and Sheldon (Janet MacNaughto­n), Wolfville. “Nanny” leaves behind nine grandchild­ren and ten great grandchild­ren. Also surviving are sisters, Ruth Doucette (Nakile Home for Special Care, Argyle) and Florence Legere (Pinkney’s Point). Besides her parents she was predecease­d by her brothers, Joseph, Clifford and Elize. Geraldine had spent her career working in various retail stores including Reitmans. She was a member and Past President of the Pinkney’s Point Happy Seniors, and a member of Senior’s Kickin’Country Line Dancers. Her husband’s military postings included homes in Chilliwack, BC, the former West Germany, Petawawa and Barrington. Geraldine and Gilbert moved to Pinkney’s Point in 1972. Geraldine was an exceptiona­l woman and not one to shy away from adventure. Her travels in the 1950’s included driving through Western Canada and a few years later she boarded a Transatlan­tic liner to join her husband in West Germany. She made these two trips as the lone adult along with her two oldest children. Geraldine loved her husband and her family with all her heart. Her greatest gift was teaching her children the importance of family. The family would like to send a special thanks for such wonderful care of their mother to the staff at Villa Saint-Joseph, Sister Poirier, Drs. Cain, Chandler and Webster and the staff at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Visitation will take place from 6-8 p.m., Thursday and prayers at 7 p.m. from H.M Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert St., Yarmouth. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m., Friday March 13 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Melbourne, Father Henry Smolenaars officiatin­g. Internment will follow in the Saint Raphael Cemetery, Pinkney’s Point. Family flowers only please.
