George Vernon Cleveland–age 87, Yarmouth, passed away unexpected­ly on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at home. Born February 5, 1933 in Norwood, Digby Co., he was a son of the late Vernon and Dorothy (Brittain) Cleveland. George was a loving husband, father, grandfathe­r and great grandfathe­r, and was very proud of his family. George was retired, having worked with MT&T for many years. George loved the outdoors, spending much of his adult life as a hobby farmer, raising cattle and growing gardens every year. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a long-time sports fan, watching hockey and closely following the Yarmouth Mariners. He is survived by his loving wife, Jean L. (Meuse) Cleveland; as well as by their sons, Gregory Cleveland (Hazel Smith), Yarmouth, Randall ‘Randy’ (Jean) Cleveland, Carleton and Wade (Kathy) Cleveland, Yarmouth; grandchild­ren, Kieron, Tristyn and Amber; and a great granddaugh­ter, Clementine. Also surviving is a sister, Vivian Kennedy, Yarmouth and a brother-inlaw, Wally Fahie, Saskatoon. Aside from his parents, he was predecease­d by a brother,

Gerald Cleveland and a sister, Mae Fahie. Cremation has taken place under the direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home and Crematoriu­m, Yarmouth. There will be no service at this time.
