Apple Watch Series 5

-

FROM $529 For many triathletes, the latest Apple Watch is the ultimate workout companion, allowing you to track your workouts, get lots of real-time data (while also giving you access to lots of music) and keep you in touch with the world.

Whether you’re cycling, swimming or running, the Apple Watch Series 5 has you covered when it comes to workout metrics, thanks to the always-on display and wrist-based heart rate tracking. Water resistant to 50 m, when you are in the water the Series 5 will keep track of your splits and sets, and can even recognize what stroke you’re doing. In open water, the GPS system will track your distance, overall pace and capture your effort on a map. Out on a run the Series 5 can track all your efforts, while helping you hit your splits with pace alerts and cadence data. On the bike, if you have a Bluetooth-enabled power meter, you’ll be able to keep track of your watts, while the cycling app on the watch provides all the regular speed and distance data you’ll need.

The immense Apple application library offers lots of ways to make the Series 5 an even more potent training tool for triathletes. The Health app makes it easy to sync your workouts with platforms like Training Peaks, so you can easily log your workouts.

When you’re not working out, the Series 5 will quickly become a valuable part of your regular day, reminding you to get up and move, allowing you to monitor texts and emails as they come in, and you can even add a plan to your phone account, so you can make calls, listen to music and do pretty much everything else you do on your phone with it. (This means you can stay connected with the world while you’re out doing a workout without having to carry your phone.)

If you’re using the watch to track a few workouts a day using GPS, you are probably going to have to charge it up every night, but that’s hardly a big deal considering what the Series 5 does for you all day long.
