Another out-of-the-box business summit

- GREGG CHAMBERLAIN gregg.chamberlain@eap.on.ca

It’s the second year for a business conference that stresses out-of-the-box thinking for both veteran entrepreneurs and newcomers to the business world. It takes off on Oct. 2 so by rights it should be called The Box, version 2.0.

The official name for the conference is The Box 2015 and organizers have already signed up Mark Sutcliffe as the keynote speaker, the mind behind the Ottawa Business Journal (OBJ) and other media and event properties. Sutcliffe will share his ideas, experiences, and advice as the lead guest at The Box 2015 business workshop at the River Rock Inn in Rockland, Oct. 2.

« I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to join the great list of speakers at The Box 2015,» Sutcliffe stated in a news release. « It’s a terrific opportunity to speak with entrepreneurs and business owners, and I’m looking forward to meeting some of Eastern Ontario’s best and brightest minds.»

Besides shepherding his own media enterprise, Sutcliffe is also a regular columnist on business and other interests, an author, a radio and television host, and a community volunteer. When not at work or relaxing, he has been involved in various charitable efforts that saw him raised more $150,000 over the past 10 years. He will add The Box 2015 to that list of charitable fundraising efforts. Last year’s The Box event resulted in $5000 raised for a local charity. This year, a portion of the proceeds raised through various activities during the conference will go to the Ottawa Senators Foundation.

Also on the guest speakers list for this year’s The Box conference are Tuan Nguyen, chief executive officer of HealthGenie.ca,
