The Arbor Gallery presents a solo exhibition entitled by Virginia Dupuis, from August 27 to September 20.
Virginia Dupuis’s paintings of stitched doilies, afghans and tablecloths, pay tribute to the often overlooked craft of women’s handiwork. The thread that runs through this exhibition is in recognition for simple traditions for those who pass on their skills. It is this continuity of enduring resolve that permeates the Threads of Time.
Dupuis is a graduate of the Ottawa School of Art with a diploma in Fine Arts. She has been exhibiting her work professionally for a number of years. In her final year, she refined her oil painting practice by completing two advanced studios in oil painting, as well as two apprenticeships in oil painting with a concentration in colour theory.
Dupuis volunteers her time as secretary of Arteast and is a member of the Orleans Art Studio Tour and a recently juried team member of the Kanata Civic Art Gallery. She is an elected member of the Society of Canadian Artists and has won several scholarships and awards for her work in several different mediums.
Threads of Time characterizes the simplest, delicate strands of memories of a time past and a time so generously embedded in each stitch.
The Arbor Gallery is located at 36 Home Avenue in Vankleek Hill. Information on this and upcoming exhibitions can be found at www.arborgallery.org, or by calling 1-877616-5086.
