Burglar proves a bit bold

A recent daylight robbery in Hawkesbury involved either a very bold or a very lucky burglar.

The homeowner at a residence on Cameron Street was outside working in the garden on Aug. 10, when someone broke into the home and rummaged around inside before leaving with several items. Among the stolen goods are a quilt with great sentimenta­l value to the homeowner, an undisclose­d amount of money, some jewelry, which includes a wedding ring, and some medication­s.

Stolen gasoline

Sometime overnight, between Aug. 8 and 9, a business was burgled on County Road 17 in Champlain Township. Entry was through the front gate of the property.

Some impact air guns were taken from a garage on the property. Also stolen was about $3000 worth of gasoline pumped out of the fuel tanks on site.

Chip stand break-in

Someone hungry for food or cash tried to break into a roadside chip stand in AlfredPlan­tagenet Township on Aug. 9. Police called to the scene found pry marks on the door but there was no sign that whoever was responsibl­e had managed to get inside.

Bathroom window entry

A burglar came in through the bathroom window, Aug. 9, at a home on Allen Road in Champlain Township. OPP incident report states that a bedroom was ransacked during the burglary and the culprit left with two laptop computers and some jewelry.
