Cougars in trailing against the North Dundas Rocket

Despite performing well all season, the Vankleek Hill Cougars are now up against a worthy adversary, the North Dundas Rockets. The Cougars are currently competing in the National Capital Junior Hockey League (NCJHL) play-offs semi-finals, trailing their rival three games to none.

The two teams met on March 4, the Cougars already having lost the previous game against the Rockets. The Rockets managed to take a hold of the game early on, scoring three goals in the first period, while the Cougars managed to score on two occasions.

The second period proved to be even more devastatin­g for the Cougars, as the Rockets scored five goals, while Vankleek Hill only managed to score twice.

But the Cougars hadn’t given up just yet. They managed to score three goals in the third period, while the Rockets’ offensive scored once.

Rockets dominate

The two teams faced off again on March 5, at the Chestervil­le & district arena. This time, the Rockets decided to obliterate the Cougars.

They scored two goals in the first period, all the while North Dundas’ defence manag-

ing to block out the Cougars’ offensive. The second period saw scoring for the Vankleek Hill team. They scored once while the Rockets scored twice again. In the third period, the Rockets scored on four separate occasions, while the Cougars only managed to score once.

The game ended with a score of eight to two for the Rockets. Maxime Emond and Riley Sauvé both scored for the Cougars.
