Police are asking for help from the public to determine the identity of a man whose remains were found in the Wendover area. OPP officers from the Hawkesbury detachment and members of the Forensics Identification Services Unit (FISU) were called out on April 18, to a residence near the Ottawa River in Wendover, because of a report of unidentified human remains found. The body was discovered along the river shore, at a location off of Division Road in the Village of Wendover, in Alfred-Plantagenet Township.

The remains were removed from the site and taken to Ottawa Hospital for a post mortem examination on April 19.

So far police know that the remains are of a man, estimated between 40 to 50 years old, with an approximate height of six feet. The examination indicates his head was shaved and his face was unshaven, with very short or stubbly beard hair.

At the time the body was discovered, the unknown man was wearing an olive green-coloured hooded jacket with a zipper up the front. The jacket had a quilted liner and Velcro wrist cuffs. Under the jacket he wore a blue, long-sleeved shirt, size medium, with a large logo on the front of the shirt. The logo featured a ram’s skull with a pair of revolverstyle guns on either side of the head and the word “Blaisedale” underneath.

The deceased also wore a large-sized, beige T-shirt with a front logo featuring a large gramophone-type record player on a pedestal with the words “Dante Ross” or “Rossi” and “New York City” on the pedestal, and the word “aLife” in the background. On the back of the T-shirt were the words “Straight White Trash” in large letters.

He had on Athletic Works-brand black nylon track pants, which had a two-tone grey side leg strip. He also wore underneath long underwear, white or grey in colour. The man wore maroon-coloured thick wool socks, and size 11 black Airwalk brand running shoes, which feature a fluorescent yellow/green shoe sole and tongue.

Police have found nothing else to help determine the identity of the deceased. The FISU and Russell County OPP Crime Unit will continue investigating under the direction of lead officer Daniel Nadeau, detective inspector.

The police have provided photos of some of the clothing items described in case anyone recalls seeing someone dressed this way. Anyone with information which may help identify the man can call the Rockland OPP detachment at 613-446-5124 or the OPP toll-free number at 1-888-310-1122.
