A street mugging, which ended with the victim both beaten and robbed, is getting a higher priority rating at the Hawkesbury OPP detachment.

Police have issued a request for public assistance to identify the people involved in a mugging attack against a senior in Vankleek Hill on Aug. 31. A 67-year-old man was walking along Main Street in the village in the midafternoon, between the hours of 3:30 and 4 p.m.

He was intercepted by one or more people who were waiting in a car parked in front of the post office at 35 Main Street East. The man was forced into the vehicle and ordered to give the robbers money.

He was taken to a location on County Road 10, about two kilometres west of the village, beaten and then left at the site. The police incident brief states he sustained minor injuries from the assault.

The suspect vehicle in the incident is described as an older model, four-door car, light grey in colour. Police investigation continues and anyone with information on either the vehicle, or the suspect or suspects involved in the robbery and assault, can either call the Hawkesbury OPP detachment at 613632-2729 or toll-free at 1-888-310-1122, or the CrimeStoppers confidential tips line at 1-800-222-8477.

Le PPO demande l’aide du public afin de trouver des suspects qui ont volé et agressé une personne aînée, à Vankleek Hill, à la fin du mois d’août.
