SPECIAL NIGHT OF WRESTLING IN HAWKESBURY
Wrestling returns once again to Hawkesbury’s Robert Hartley Arena for what promises to be its biggest event of the year put on by Great North Wresting (GNW) on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at 7 pm.
“The card will feature a 20-man battle royal for the Canadian Heavyweight Championship, which was stripped from former holder ‘PCO’ Pierre-Carl Ouellette in Pembroke in May, along with two other major title matches,” explained Devon ‘Hannibal’ Nicholson.
The first title match will be for the GNW World Television Championship, and will feature champion Wes Brisco, a former Total Nonstop Action (TNA) and New Japan star, against challenger and long-time foe Nathan ‘The Prodigy’ Banner. Brisco is the first and only TV title holder since its creation in 2017.
A special fight will see former champion Devon ‘Hannibal’ Nicholson in a three round kickboxing exhibition versus 300-lb (136kg) behemoth Max Lemyre. Jean-Yves Thériault, 23 times World Kickboxing Champion will be in Hanibal’s corner to cheer him on. In other action, Jebediah Tatum will face ‘The Bruiser’ in a revenge combat.
This event will feature the retirement match of the local Hawkesbury Team ‘The Hart Throbs’. They will also take part in the 20-man battle royal. Fans will see Vankleek Hill native ‘The Green Phantom’ in action as he faces ‘Pretty Boy’ Preston Perry.
The final title match will be for the prestigious Women’s Championship of Canada and will see champion Lady Yasmine defending the belt against St. Louis’ Jordynne Grace, who is also the current Women’s Superstars Uncensored Spirit Champion.
