The new pro­vin­cial go­vern­ment can­cel­led a pro­gram the pre­vious go­vern­ment set up to help sup­port commuter cycling pro­jects in On­ta­rio. But not be­fore the Uni­ted Counties of Pres­cott-Rus­sell and a few other mu­ni­ci­pal go­vern­ments ma­na­ged to get grants ap­pro­vals from the first year run of the five-year pro­gram.

“They do need to adopt it,” said Marc Cler­mont, pu­blic works Di­rec­tor for the Uni­ted Counties of Pres­cott-Rus­sell (UCPR), about a consul­tant’s report that was re­cent­ly pre­sen­ted to counties coun­cil, “so we can pro­ceed with the work, using the grant.”

The en­gi­nee­ring consul­tant firm Mor­ri­son Her­sh­field pre­sen­ted counties coun­cil with the 22-page Uni­ted Counties of Pres­cottRus­sell Commuter Cycling Plan du­ring the Au­gust 8 com­mit­tee of the whole ses­sion.
