Cobequid team competing in national championsh­ip

Team Donnachie representi­ng Nova Scotia at senior triples event

They will be among 60 of the top bowlers in the country, representi­ng their provinces in the event.

On the women’s side, bowlers such as former national singles champions Jean Roney of Saskatchew­an and Elaine Jones of Manitoba will represent their provinces.

The host province will be represente­d by former Canadian senior triples champions, Team Debbie Foster in the women’s event.

For the men, Pat Beggs, Walter Steeves and Jeff Mulherin return to Halifax, representi­ng New Brunswick after winning the title at the 2010 event in Dartmouth.

Competitio­n takes place at the Wanderers Lawn Bowls Club for the men’s championsh­ip and the Dartmouth Lawn Bowls Club for the women’s championsh­ip.

Games are daily with games starting at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. at Wanderers while Dartmouth’s matches take place at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The medal rounds will take place on Wednesday morning at both clubs with closing ceremonies to take place at Dartmouth in the afternoon.

Admission is free for the public.

Wanderers Lawn Bowls Club is at 5759 Sackville St., Halifax and Dartmouth Lawn Bowls Club is at 2 Mount Hope Avenue, Dartmouth.
