Former councillor to receive human rights award
TRURO – Former Truro councillor Raymond Tynes will be recognized this weekend in Halifax with a Nova Scotia Human Rights Award. “I’m pretty proud of that,” Tynes said, of the award which is to be presented on Saturday at the Halifax Central Library on Spring Garden Road. Award named after the late Dr. Burnley Allan “Rocky” Jones, a well-known community leader who grew up in Truro. The awards are presented each year by the Human Rights Commission and Partners for Human Rights, a group of organizations dedicated to creating more respectful communities through promotion of human rights.
