Lockdown expected to be lifted by today
SPRINGHILL – Efforts are underway to end a lockdown at the Springhill Institution after a stabbing this week. “Actually, this evening we are starting to open up,” assistant warden Shannon Oickle said Thursday. “Normally after an incident like this we start to open up slowly, so tonight it will be
kind of a half and half routine and then by morning we should be open to normal, if everything goes good tonight.” A search of the prison has been completed and Oickle said some contraband items were discovered. An inmate was stabbed on Tuesday and was evaluated by staff members and transported to an outside hospital for treatment.
