Three officers injured within hours while on duty

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. – Niagara regional police say three officers have been injured in incidents that occurred while they were on duty Wednesday night and Thursday morning. They say an officer directing traffic in St. Catharines, Ont., was struck by a vehicle at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and was treated in hospital for minor injuries to his shoulder and wrist and released. About five minutes later, an officer working in Grimsby, Ont., was attacked and bitten by a dog, suffering injuries to his leg and arm, which required hospital treatment. And at approximat­ely 2:15 a.m. Thursday, an officer arrested a man on suspicion of impaired operation of a motor vehicle and put him in a cruiser to be transporte­d to Niagara Falls, Ont.
