Walter “Lee” Blaikie

BLAIKIE, Walter “Lee” – 74, Truro, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Jan. 16, 2017 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro.

Born in Hagersvill­e, Ont., he was the son of Edna (Wardrope) Blaikie and the late Walter Blaikie.

Lee worked at various jobs before working as a car dealer at Blaikies Dodge Chrysler, Truro.

In his retirement years he and Barbara spent their winters in Florida along with significan­t travels and cruises. He was an avid golfer and harness racing fan. He was a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins.

Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife of 47 years, Barbara; daughters, Pamela (Adam) Zacharjasz, Toronto, Melanie (Chris) Oickle, Halifax; sister, Cynthia Mitchell; brother, Gary; several nieces and nephews. He was predecease­d by his father; his sister, Cheryl Shedden and a nephew.

Cremation has taken place. A reception to celebrate Lee’s life will be held on Friday, Jan. 20 from 2-4 p.m. at the Truro Golf Club, 86 Golf St. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Hemochroma­tosis Society.
