Truro suf­fers sec­ond straight loss on the Is­land dur­ing MHL Show­case event

The Truro Bearcats suf­fered a pair of losses at the Mar­itime Ju­nior Hockey League Show­case this week.

Af­ter a 4-1 loss to the Mi­ramichi Tim­ber­wolves on Tues­day, the Bearcats fell 4-2 to the league’s top team, the Ed­mund­ston Bl­iz­zard, on Wed­nes­day.

The Show­case fea­tured all 12 teams play­ing two games in Sum­mer­side.

Liam Leonard held the hot hand for the Bl­iz­zard on Wed­nes­day, scor­ing one goal and adding three as­sists, as his team won for the eighth time in nine games this sea­son.

Fred­eric Beauch­esne-Dubuc, Alex Lavoie and Maxime Grand­mai­son also scored for the Bl­iz­zard.

Ri­ley Baggs and Cameron MacLeod scored for the Bearcats (55-0), while Fran­cis As­selin earned the goal­tend­ing win over Kevin Re­sop.

It was the fourth straight loss for the Bearcats, com­ing af­ter a five-game winning streak.

The Bearcats hit the road for a pair of games in New Brunswick this week­end.

Tonight, they visit Camp­bell­ton, fol­lowed by a Satur­day game in Mi­ramichi.

Their next home game is Oct. 20 against the Pic­tou County Weeks Crush­ers (RECC, 7 p.m.).
