Mary Susan “Susie” Knockwood

KNOCKWOOD, Mary Susan “Susie” – 77, Millbrook First Nation, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday evening, October 11, 2017, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro.

Born in Truro, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Sylliboy) Sack.

Susie was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church and Millbrook Women’s Club. In earlier years, she worked at Abenaki Motel and Abenaki Food Store. She was an avid hockey fan and loved the Boston Bruins and enjoyed playing TV bingo. Above all, Susie loved her family and all children; she was happiest when cooking wild game and for family gatherings.

Susie is survived by her children, Vera (Patrick), Millbrook; Raymond, Waycobah, Cape Breton; Pius, Millbrook; Edna (Ross), Bible Hill; Gabriel “Gubbie” (Mary “Mali”), Millbrook; Basil (Tammy), Truro Heights; grandchild­ren, Samantha, Greg, Nathan, Marilyn, Rayvon, Kayla, Lyndon, Sage, Brent, Ross Jr., Hannah, Olivia, Claire, Reed, Blade; great grandchild­ren, Silipai, Thane, Easton, Tia’m, Judah, Azrielle; sisters, Elizabeth Gehue, Harriet Knockwood, Shirley Sack, Sipekne’katik First Nation; Goddaughte­r, Chenoa.

Along with her parents, she was predecease­d by her ex-husband, Noel Raymond Knockwood; sister, Evelyn “Ann’jij” Sack; brother, Louis “Sog” James Sack.

Susie’s family will receive friends starting at 1 p.m., Saturday, October 14, 2017, at Millbrook Senior’s Centre, 841 Willow St., Millbrook First Nation. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m., Monday, October 16, 2017, in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Church Road, Millbrook First Nation, Father Dariusz Miskowicz officiatin­g. Salite’ will follow in Millbrook Community Hall. Interment will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, October 18, 2017, in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church Cemetery.
