Pair face gun, drug charges af­ter raid

KENTVILLE, N.S. – Two peo­ple were ar­rested and stolen guns, drugs and cash were seized af­ter po­lice raided a home on Scott Drive in North Kentville.

The search was con­ducted Oct. 5 as part of an in­ves­ti­ga­tion into an Oct. 3 theft of re­stricted hand­guns from a busi­ness in Can­ning, RCMP said in a news re­lease Thursday. Of­fi­cers re­cov­ered the hand­guns in the North Kentville search, along with nu­mer­ous long guns, co­caine, mar­i­juana and a large amount of cash. Kyle Michael Joseph Markle, 21, and Sa­man­tha Hope Collins, 19, both of North Kentville, are charged with pos­ses­sion of co­caine and mar­i­juana for the pur­pose of traf­fick­ing and sev­eral firearms charges. Markle also faces an ad­di­tional charge of break and en­ter.

The pair ap­peared in Kentville pro­vin­cial court Tues­day and were both re­leased on bail. They are sched­uled to re­turn to court Nov. 7.
