Pair face gun, drug charges after raid

KENTVILLE, N.S. – Two people were arrested and stolen guns, drugs and cash were seized after police raided a home on Scott Drive in North Kentville.

The search was conducted Oct. 5 as part of an investigat­ion into an Oct. 3 theft of restricted handguns from a business in Canning, RCMP said in a news release Thursday. Officers recovered the handguns in the North Kentville search, along with numerous long guns, cocaine, marijuana and a large amount of cash. Kyle Michael Joseph Markle, 21, and Samantha Hope Collins, 19, both of North Kentville, are charged with possession of cocaine and marijuana for the purpose of traffickin­g and several firearms charges. Markle also faces an additional charge of break and enter.

The pair appeared in Kentville provincial court Tuesday and were both released on bail. They are scheduled to return to court Nov. 7.
