A host of Christmas-themed characters will be visiting Truro Mall for a special celebration to welcome the Christmas season to Truro.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be visiting Truro Mall this Saturday, Nov. 18.

“On the first day, we always do a big event for Santa coming to the Shopping centre,” said Jaclyn Johnston, marketing manager for the Truro Mall.

“Santa will parade down the mall with some of the cast of the Cobequid Dance Academy’s The Nutcracker. They are going to dance during the parade, fully costumed, and will be available for photo opportunities as well.”

During the celebration, kids will be able to have photos taken with Santa with a donation to the Truro Food Bank, and the mall will be giving away activity books, wearable antlers and a photo mount for those getting Santa photos.

The Cobequid Dance Academy will also be giving away a set of

tickets to their show, The Nutcracker.

Those interested can enter by snapping a photo with one of The

Nutcracker cast members at the mall, and posting it on any social media platform with the hashtag #CDAnutcracker17.

There will also be a concert by the Mini Musicians from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

“Mini Musicians is a local family whose main focus is on educating children on early music education,” said Johnston.

“They hold music classes for children from toddlers to schoolaged kids. They will be set up near the Santa display singing Christmas carols and songs.”

Santa and company will begin parading through the mall at 11 a.m. Saturday before settling down for photos from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

After the celebration, Santa will be at the mall on Thursdays and Fridays from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. for the rest of the season.
