Decoste hosting final show of spring fling tour

-

The decoste Performing Arts Centre is excited to be showcasing the final Maritime show of the Celtic Spring Fling tour featuring Cassie and Maggie Macdonald of Antigonish, and the award-winning Paul Mckenna Band of Glasgow, Scotland. The show will feature an eclectic combination of tunes, pipes, fiddles, stories, songs and dance.

The sisters and the lads first met at the legendary Celtic Colours in Cape Breton and again at Celtic Connections Festival in Glasgow and have known each other for years, but this is the first time the seven musicians have created a mystical and energetic stage show together featuring fiddles, pipes, bodrhan, step dancing singing and

more that will have audience members dancing and clapping along with them. Each performance has a surprise special guest joining the musicians on stage to make every

show unique.

A CELTIC SPRING FLING is a celebration not only of the music, but the stories of immigration

through the Maritimes. Pic- tou was the landing of the Hector which held 189 Scottish settlers from Loch-broom forced to flee after the Highland clearances. Antigonish is a town that held their first Highland Games in1861. This is a performance that embodies an appreciation of the hardships Irish and Scottish ancestors had to endure, and how they persevered and kept their Celtic spirits up with the songs and music that continues to be acclaimed throughout the world today.

The performance is quickly approaching on Saturday April 21 at 7:30 pm. For more information or to purchase tickets for the performance, contact the decoste Centre box office at (902) 485 8848 or 1-800-353-5338 or online at www.decostecentre.ca.
