M. Jean Fitzpatrick

-

M. Jean Fitzpatrick, 75, Truro, passed away peacefully, with loving family at her side, on Friday morning, July 6, 2018, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro.

Born in Truro, she was a daughter of the late Roderick and Evelyn (Nolan) Murray.

Jean worked as a hair stylist at various salons and owned and operated her own salon and retired in 1975. She was a phenomenal mother and grandmother whose life revolved around her grandchildren and the activities they were involved in. An avid hockey fan, she followed her grandchildren’s hockey and the Pittsburg Penguins, always cheering on her favourite player (Other than her grandchildren, of course!), Sidney Crosby; Jean knew anything and everything there was to know about hockey and she loved to share that knowledge.

As well, she loved dogs, bowling, doing ceramics and was a fantastic cook who was affectionately known as “The Cookie Lady” to many children. You could always count on Jean to take you to an appointment or help you in any way that she could; she was a truly selfless woman who never looked for recognition. Over the years, she was fortunate to have taken 29 trips with Don and their family to many places around the world.

Jean is survived by her husband, Donald Kenneth “Don” Fitzpatrick; children, Paula (Cyrus) Illsley, Hilden; Kelly Blair (Maureen Ralph), Truro; Scott Blair, East Mountain; Gina (Mark) Whiting, Ottawa, Ontario; sister, Julia (Fred) Blois, Clifton; grandchildren, Jenna (Pat), Nicole (Justin), Kyle, Riley, Laura, Sophie, Ben, Sam, Jennifer (David), Felicia; great granddaughter, Peyton; nieces and nephews, Melanie (Taylor) Edwards, Craig (Diana) Blois, Andrea (Trevor) Ledain, Shauna (Tom) Gibson; favourite cousin, Saundra Cochrane, New Glasgow; best friend, Lorraine Davy, Truro; step-children,

Special thanks are extended to Dr. Frank Slipp, VON Homecare and the staff at Colchester East Hants Health Centre for their exceptional care.
