“I absolutely love it,” said Ted Ash, head coach of Beyond Boxing. “I have a great deal of respect for these kids to get into the ring; it takes so much courage and the tness level that boxing puts on your body or mind is as high or higher than any other sport.”

Club coaches are in the process of lining up ghts for the card. Ash expected the event will include 12 boxing matches.

Proceeds will go toward building space rentals and expenses, such as travelling costs for members competing out of town.

“I think it’s great for people to have an opportunity to get out and see something di erent,” said Ash. “I myself complained when I was a kid that there were not enough different things to do in Truro. I’ve coached di erent sports for 20 years in the Truro area and I’ve always been passionate about boxing. Me and a friend invested some money so we could get kids o their video games, get them a bit of exercise and build some con dence and tness at the same time.”
