Bearcats work some late-inning magic to close gap on Dartmouth

The Truro Bearcats ready to roll over.

Sunday night in Dartmouth, the Bearcats showed the form that was their trademark in the regular season, falling behind by four runs before storming back with three in each of the eighth and ninth innings, to shade the Moosehead Dry 7-6.

The win narrowed Dartmouth’s lead in the best-ofseven Nova Scotia Senior Baseball League championsh­ip series to 2-1.

Game 4 was scheduled for Monday night in Truro (visit trurodaily.com for result).

It looked dire for Truro Sunday night as the Dry took a 5-1 lead into the eighth and were up 6-4 heading to the ninth.

Catcher Nick Best had three singles Sunday night and drove in the winning run for the Bearcats. John Chapman and Darson Murphy both singled, doubled and knocked in two runs, while Guy Pellerine added two singles to help the cause.

Pellerine started aren’t on the mound for Truro, with Matt Mingo taking over in the fifth. Matt Moore came on in the eighth, earning the win, and Dan Bates mopped up in the ninth to get the save.

Liam Logan started for Dartmouth and reliever Justin Davies took the loss. Greg West had a double and a single and two RBIs for the Dry.

The series returns to Dartmouth Wednesday for a 7:30 p.m. start in Game 5 at Beazley Field.
