Eight dashes highlight Sunday card

- Diane Daniels Trackside Diane Daniels is the race office supervisor at Truro Raceway.

Fifty-nine horses and eight races are on tap for the regular Sunday afternoon harness racing program at Truro Raceway. Post time is noon. Qualifiers are slated for 10:45 a.m.

FRESH HORSES

A couple of stables on the grounds at the local oval have added fresh stock to their camps including Jamie and Linda Ramsay with the purchase of a two-year-old filly, by Western Paradise, Shadow Cross Francy, a stable mate for Life in the country.

Tammy MacKay of Truro, Donna MacKay of Summerside and Kenzie Cook of Onslow Mountain have formed a partnershi­p and picked up the Nova Scotia-bred yearling, Pictonian Smokey.

CHANGES HANDS

The two-year-old son of Articulato­r has been sold out of the Stephen Morton Stable to Sydney Parker, daughter of owner/driver Les Parker of Shubenacad­ie. The colt will campaign tomorrow afternoon in the opening race, Non-Winners of 1 and 2 Pari Mutuel Races Life.

POST TIME CHANGE/ ADDED RACE DATES

General manager Joe Nicholson has confirmed that effective Sunday, Nov. 6, post time for the races will return to 1 p.m. Nicholson has also advised that three extra race dates have been added to the 2016-17 race meet, to include Nov. 11, 2016, Dec. 26, 2016 and Jan. 1, 2017. There is free admission, parking and grandstand seating.

HALLOWEEN FUN

With Sunday being Halloween Eve, the Truro Harness Horse Owners Associatio­n will once again be hosting a “Trick or Treat” at the Raceway.

Everyone who wants to join in the fun is asked to meet at the Paddock Barn at 10 a.m. tomorrow morning.

NOTICE

Truro Raceway officials have confirmed that the Douglas Grandstand will be closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for Simulcast Racing throughout the fall and winter months. The Truro Horsemen’s Club will continue to provide the Simulcast products during this time through the self-serve terminal.
