Yvonne Julia Freitag

Freitag, Yvonne Julia – age 82, truro, peacefully passed away Oct. 28, 2016 in Colchester east Hants Health Centre, truro.

Born in Milton, N.S. on aug. 23, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Virgil everette Wolfe and Vernice Louise Wolfe (MacLeod).

Yvonne received her nursing education through the IWK in 1955 and furthered her education in 1978 at Memorial University of Newfoundland where she received her nursing degree in Public Health. She continued her nursing with VON in St. John’s, N.L., and truro, N.S. after a very distinguished and rewarding career in health care Yvonne retired in 1992 as Director of VON, truro.

She was a very loving woman who cherished time with her family. Yvonne had a love for the outdoors, nature and the sea. She was an avid gardener, skilled seamstress and passionate home decorator. She found joy volunteering with organizations such as Zonta, the Canadian Cancer Society, Colchester east Hants Health authority and was a member of the Bible Hill garden Club.

She touched all of those around her and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She is survived by her loving husband James arthur Freitag of 60 years marriage, children Nancy Kinney (Norm), David Freitag (Karen) and Jo-ann Beaver (Kevin) , five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, siblings Maurice Wolfe (Shirley), Dianne Wamboldt, sister-in-law, Margaret Wolfe.

She is predeceased by brother Virgil “Junior” Wolfe; brother-in-law, David Wamboldt.

there will be a private family memorial service. there will also be a Celebration of Life ceremony for friends and family at the Holiday inn, 437 Prince St., truro, on Saturday, Nov. 12 from 1-3 p.m.

Donations may be made to the Colchester east Hants Hospice or the Palliative Care unit of Colchester east Hants Health Care Centre, if desired.
